Gustav Klimt in Vienna Austria

Judith by Gustav Klimt

If you go to Vienna, Austria, you can’t not visit the Belvedere Palace and see two of the most famous paintings in the world from local artists Gustav, Klimt.

The incredible Belvedere Palace.

One cool fact about Belvedere is that it once hosted a masked ball for the pair that would become Marie Antoinette and King Louis IV.

While “The Kiss” is the most famous painting, my favorite was Judith. And, I learned something new. Oftentimes you only see the top portion of Judith’s face when you see this painting reproduced for commercial purposes. But look closely at the bottom right and you will see her holding the severed head of Holofernes…in reference to a biblical story. Overall, you must visit this museum (it is three stories and there is a lot more than just Klimt) and you likely will because it is one of the most grandiose buildings in all of Europe and a top tourist stop when in Vienna.
