A Great Day at Saratoga for the 99th Running of The Whitney
Sovereignty in the winner’s circle after the race
Today I had the opportunity to visit Saratoga Race Course for the first time. What a day!
This was particularly great day to do it because it was the 99th running of The Whitney Stakes, the track’s most important race of the year - with a $1 million prize for winning.
I had the absolute thrill and privilege to witness Sovereignty win the race. Sovereignty was last year’s Kentucky Derby winner, but this year the horse had not been doing well. Today we witnessed a story of a past champion getting back on top. I will never forget the excitement of seeing him come from behind and end up dominating the win on the front stretch. There is an important life story to be remembered from this.
I even won some money.
All in all, this was one of the most fun days I’ve had in a long time - with Sovereignty’s comeback story being the icing on the cake.
